Both teams competed in the NCAA DIII Mid-East Regionals Saturday and finished strong in their last race of the season.

xc142.jpgBethlehem, PA - The Geneva College Men′s and Women′s Cross Country teams traveled to Lehigh University to compete in the NCAA Division III Mid-East Regionals on Saturday. Both teams competed well in the final race of the season for the Golden Tornadoes.

The women finished 31st out of 52 teams while posting a 25:11 team time in the 6K. Alayna Merkle led the way for Geneva by placing 41st overall with a time of 22:37. Merkle′s performance is the highest ever finish by a Geneva woman in DIII Regionals. Her 22:37 was also third fastest 6K time in Geneva history. Merkle graduates with four of the five fastest cross country times in Geneva College history. In addition, Emily Stone set a personal record with a time of 25:58.

The men finished 45th out of 54 teams while posting a 29:46 team time in the 8K. Jacob Beschner led Geneva with a time of 28:26. Freshman Ken Kutcel came in second with a solid time of 28:49.
