Beaver Falls, PA- Geneva took Westminster into overtime but fell in a disappointing 66-62 final, lowering the GT′s overall record to 1-13, 0-8 in the Presidents′ Athletic Conference.
Geneva took the lead after a five minute period of scoring trouble for both teams. The scoreboard stood at 1-0 after a Westminster free throw until things got rolling with 15:46 left in the first half. Geneva out played the Titans 27-23 making five baskets from beyond the arch. With both teams struggling to keep possession of the ball with 18 turnovers by the Titans and 13 turnovers from the Golden Tornadoes, the Titans closed the gap using their three-point game with five in the second half of play. After seven lead changes and three draws, Geneva and Westminster went into overtime at 55 points apiece.
Overtime proved to hurt the GT′s as they were unable to find any of their three three-point shot attempts, 3-8 attempts from the field and only 1-5 from the foul line. The missed baskets gave Westminster just the opportunity they were looking for and they took it and ran off with the win.
Freshman Nicole Hyland debuted a double double with 13 rebounds and 20 points for the Golden Tornadoes. Freshman Miranda Heaney sunk three from down town in her 12 points and Senior Mary Keen contributed 11 points.
Geneva will continue play at home on Wednesday against the Washington & Jefferson College Presidents with tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
