Beaver Falls, PA- A new era began in 2009 with the hiring of Brian Yowler as Geneva′s cross country coach for men and women and head track and field coach for men and women, in addition to working as a professor in Geneva′s Biology department. After five successful years juggling these duties, Yowler has chosen to step down from the track and field head coach position at the end of this season, but will remain as the men and women's cross country coach.

"The last five years has been a lot of fun coaching events beyond distance running," Yowler said. "It has certainly been a positive experience but in order to grow the program it needs a head coach that can commit more time solely on track and field."

Under the direction of Yowler, the programs have experienced five straight years with NCCAA Scholar athletes for both indoor and outdoor men and women′s track and field, three years with athletes on NCAA Division III all academic teams (Geneva did not become full members until 2011), a Division III all-academic student-athlete, and 12 school records have been set.

"Coach Yowler has and will continue to be an integral part of the Geneva College athletic department. He stepped up in a time of need and moved the track and field program forward during his tenure," said Van Zanic, Interim Athletic Director.

"He leaves the program in much better shape than when he took it over and has positioned our track and field program to take some even bigger steps forward in the coming years. We are very grateful for the work that Coach Yowler has done during the past six years and know that he will continue to do great things at Geneva College and within our athletic department."
