"Comic Relief" is a presentation of comedic one-act plays in Geneva College′s Bagpiper Theatre. Performances will begin on Thursday, April 24, and run through Saturday, April 26, for a total of four shows. Showings will be at 8 p.m. each day, plus a 2 p.m. matinée on Saturday.

The one-acts are an annual series of short 10-15 minute scenes compiled into one show. This year, the student-powered plays are themed around comedy, with a dash of tragedy and romance. Comedian and 2013 Geneva graduate Micah Taylor will host the evening.

The four shows are: There Shall Be No Bottom, a meta comedy about a play performance; Talking with Death, a student-penned drama about one man′s eventful life; For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls, a parody of The Glass Menagerie; and Fully Disfunctional, a combination and adaptation of two Shel Silverstein plays about an easily excitable and slightly murderous family.

There Shall Be No Bottom was written by Mark O′Donnell, directed by Justin Addicott, and stars David Parker, Ian Miller, Angela Bakke, and Mary Douglas. Talking with Death, written by Rebekah Farkas, is directed by Haley Milligan and stars Aaron Barker, Jacob Hockenbrocht, Kendall Bair, and Martha Emery.

The remaining two plays follow an intermission: For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls, written by Christopher Durang, is directed by Austin Jarvi and stars Olivia Skal, Trey Garlow, Lindsey Bernheisel, and Zack Bowman; and the final play, Fully Dysfunctional, has been adapted by Chris Strangfeld from Shel Silverstein, is also directed by Chris Strangfeld, and stars Adam Rowe, Ruth Martin, and McKenna Pontoli.

"You should come and bring all your friends!" said Director Chris Strangfeld, adding, "Don't drink too much water ...."

General admission tickets for "Comic Relief are $3; Geneva faculty and staff tickets are $1.50; and admission for all students, alumni and senior citizens is $1. Tickets may be purchased at the door, or by calling the box office at 724-847-5099.
