Beaver Falls, PA- In the Presidents′ Athletic Conference, Geneva′s softball team has been one of the best, currently residing in second place with a 11-3 record. The non-conference schedule, though, hasn′t been nearly as kind to the Golden Tornadoes. After falling 8-0 and 6-5 at Hiram, Geneva now stands at 6-11 in non-conference play.

"We are not exactly a non-conference juggernaut," said Geneva coach Van Zanic. "But we did play better in game two and it was a better day than having to practice.

"We had some good at bats in game two and will have to play better Wednesday."

In the first game, Geneva never got untracked, allowing seven runs in the second inning and never recovering. In the second game, Geneva scored two in the first with RBIs from Andrea Hinds (Montrose, PA) and Dayna Hicks (Blackhawk) but couldn′t maintain the lead.

Geneva scored two more in the fifth to take a 5-4 lead but couldn′t maintain it. In that inning, Laura Beck (Canfield, OH) had an RBI double and scored on a hit by Hinds. Hinds finished with three hits and two runs batted in while Beck, Christina Fuqua (Richard Montgomery, MD), and Ashley Davis (Springfield Local, OH) each had two hits.

Geneva returns to conference play Wednesday against Thiel on senior day.
