Volleyball's Erica Hughes selected as ECAC Rookie of the Week

Hughes selected as Presidents′ Athletic Conference volleyball player of the week

IMG_6973.jpgBeaver Falls, PA- On June 1st, 2014 Geneva College joined the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). One of motives behind the membership was coined giving Geneva student-athletes, "more post-season opportunities as well as individual and team honors" by Director of Athletics, Van Zanic.

And that is exactly what is happening- the individual of honor of the Corvias ECAC Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week (Division III South) was given to Geneva′s Erica Hughes (North Jackson, OH/Jackson Milton).

The freshman outside hitter had another outstanding week (for the week ending October 12, 2014) while the Golden Tornadoes hosted Westminster and Thomas More. Hughes led the Golden Tornadoes offense to defeat both opponents in three sets. Wednesday, she had 19 kills over the Westminster Titans and continued on Saturday finding 16 kills against the, then-undefeated conference opponent, the Thomas More Saints. Hughes finished the week with 35 kills, averaging 5.83 kills per set.
