Geneva volleyball send Thomas More Saints home defeated; Geneva 3-0 victory

Beaver Falls, PA- Geneva volleyball sent the Thomas More Saints back to Kentucky with their first conference loss. Geneva defeated the Saints 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 28-26), increasing the Golden Tornadoes overall record to 15-7, 8-2 in the Presidents′ Athletic Conference (PAC). Thomas More′s overall record now stands at 17-3, 7-1 in the PAC.

"We set the tone early with Erica′s nine kills in the first set," said co-head coach Curt Conser.

Erica Hughes (North Jackson, OH/Jackson Milton) led the Geneva offense with 16 total kills. Olivia Test (Negley, OH/Heartland Christian) finished the match with 13 kills. The Golden Tornadoes finished the three sets with ten team blocks.

"The block did very well tonight."

On defense, Rachel Netherland (Aliquippa, PA/Central Valley) gathered 16 digs while Gabrielle Dickson (Brookfield, OH/Kennedy Catholic) and Alexis Ritson (Irwin, PA/Hempfield) each finished with 15 digs. In addition, first year Golden Tornado, Kacie Moore (Doylestown, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) contributed ten digs.

Geneva′s gym was packed with fans including a number of Alumni for Geneva′s homecoming weekend. 2004 Geneva volleyball alumni and Geneva′s first ever libero, Jill (Corsen) O′Brian said, "Thank goodness we didn′t go to a fourth game!"

Next week Geneva hosts Juniata in a non-conference game on Wednesday October 15 at 7 p.m.
