Geneva volleyball heads to ECAC South Region Semi-finals

Beaver Falls, PA – Geneva volleyball opened up the ECAC post-season at home against Penn State Altoona in a 3-0 match (27-25, 26-24, 25-14). The win raises Geneva’s record to 25-10 overall – making the 2014 squad the third team in Geneva’s history to reach 25 wins.

Geneva’s offense was led by double digit kill leaders Marissa Naples (Cortland, OH/Lakeview)  (12), Erica Hughes (North Jackson, OH/Jackson Milton) (10) and Grace Hayes (Westminster, MD/Westminster) (9).

Rachel Netherland (Aliquippa, PA/Central Valley) set for 31 assists and put down seven kills. In addition she earned three blocks.

“Marissa ended up setting really well for Rachel who was unstoppable,” said co-head coach Curt Conser.

“Grace Hayes is still playing consistent.”

As a team Geneva finished the night with eight blocks.

On defense Alexis Ritson (Irwin, PA/Hempfield) gathered 19 digs, McKala King (Uniontown, OH/Lake ) with 12.

Geneva heads to Carnegie Mellon University to play in the ECAC South Region Semi-finals on Saturday November 15. More details to follow.
