Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva outscored St. Vincent 46-40 in the second half but it wasn’t nearly enough to offset a 46-20 halftime lead by the first place Bearcats. St. Vincent, which never trailed, made the most of a big inside advantage, scoring 34 points in the paint and having a 31-18 edge in rebounding.

“We’re not getting the defensive effort we need to win,” said Geneva coach Jeff Santarsiero.

“This makes seven games this season that we’ve allowed over 80 points and that’s not acceptable.”

“The bright spot is that Jimmy Leichliter had a great game and Chaese Vaudrin is getting back to the Chaese we knew last year.”

Now 7-13 and 4-7 in Presidents’ Athletic Conference action, Geneva had three underclassmen score in double figures, led by 18 points by was led in scoring by freshman Jimmy Leichliter (Connellsville, PA/Connellsville), connecting on six three-pointers. Junior Nick Shelton (Hubbard, OH/Hubbard) and sophomore Chaese Vaudrin (Uniontown, OH/Lake) each added 11. Vaudrin also had eight assists.

Geneva will return to action Wednesday, traveling to Washington & Jefferson at 7:30 p.m.
