BEAVER FALLS, PA - Geneva connected on barely more than a quarter of its shots from the field and Washington & Jefferson showed just why it had won nine of its first 11 games as the Presidents never trailed in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference game.

“I think if we shoot better, it’s a close game,” said Geneva coach Lori Wynn. “We did a nice job with them in the first half and I was pleased that we got off to a better start, that’s been a challenge for us.

“We continue to make progress.”

Now 3-9 overall and 1-4 in PAC play, Geneva did see a landmark passed as junior Heidi Mann (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy) scored the 800th point of her career in the first half. She became the 16th player in Geneva history to reach 800 points. For the game, she finished with seven points but led all rebounders with 11.

The Golden Tornadoes were led in scoring by sophomore Nicole Hyland (Trafford, PA/Penn-Trafford) with 10 and she added nine rebounds to fall just short of a double-double.

The Golden Tornadoes return to PAC action Saturday, hosting Chatham at 1 p.m.
