Geneva College’s theater program presents its spring production, Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest. Performances will be held in Geneva’s Studio Theater on February 19-20 and 26-27 at 8 p.m., with 2 p.m. Saturday matinees on February 21 and 28.

The Importance of Being Earnest is a satirical comedy set in Victorian London that was first performed in 1895. Director Dr. David Kuhns said that the play is “one of the most delightful comedies written in the English language.”

Mindy Williams, the show’s costume and set designer, noted that the show has some interesting quirks. For example, there will be seating surrounding the stage on three platforms.

The production will be the last in the Studio Theater. Kuhns said, “It is very sad to be leaving the studio theater after 14 years of wonderful memories. I recognize that times change. One thing you learn from being a theater person is that you learn to be flexible.”

To reserve tickets, call the Geneva College Theatre Box Office at 724-847-5099. Tickets cost $3 for students, $5 for general admission, and $3.50 for seniors, faculty and staff.
