WASHINGTON, PA - Freshman Jimmy Leichliter (Connellsville, PA/Connellsville) scored 25 points, a career best and the most by any Geneva player all season, as Geneva came from seven points back in the first half and stopped a four game road losing streak. The 69-64 win also was Geneva’s eighth of the season, the Golden Tornadoes’ most since 2010-2011 and the most since becoming an official member of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference. Geneva is now 8-13 and 5-7 in conference play.

“Jimmy had a big night,” said Geneva coach Jeff Santarsiero. “We got the big shots when we needed them and did a good job on the boards.”

Leichliter made seven of nine three-pointers, his only field goal attempt inside the arc and two of four free throws in accumulating 25 points but his effort wasn’t the only outstanding one.

Junior Ethan Adamczyk (Uniontown, OH/Lake) recorded his third double-double of the season with 13 points and 15 rebounds while seniors Tyler Damazo (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) had 12 points and Jacob Jaros (Levittsburg, OH/LaBrae) had 10 rebounds.

“We missed some free throws at the end but Jake got us big rebounds off the misses,” Santarsiero said. “We just found a way to win and it was a good win on the road.”

Geneva will return to action Saturday, hosting Grove City at 7:30 p.m.
