Geneva men’s season ends with 70-52 loss at Bethany

Bethany, WV – Last year, the Geneva men’s basketball team pulled off the surprise of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference playoffs, upsetting top-seeded Bethany at Bethany. This year, the 6th-seeded Golden Tornadoes looked capable of pulling off another upset of the 3rd seeded Bison, but cold shooting in the second half eliminated any such chances and Bethany prevailed 70-52. Geneva finishes 10-16.

“We played well in the first half but couldn’t hit anything in the second half,” said Geneva coach Jeff Santarsiero. “We got good looks but the shots just wouldn’t fall. We had to foul at the end to ret and get back in it so the score doesn’t reflect the game. We battled the whole way.”

“We were picked to finish last in the conference and finished sixth so we have some things to build on. We’ll take a couple of weeks off and get ready for next year.”

Geneva’s top scorers for the season were also top scorers for the game. Junior Ethan Adamczyk (Uniontown, OH/Lake) scored 15 points and freshman Jimmy Leichliter (Connellsville, PA/Connellsville) had 14.
