The Geneva softball team started its season off with the case of the splits; reflecting its 5-5 overall record heading into week two.

Junior first baseman Laura Beck led the Golden Tornadoes offense with 30 appearances at the plate averaging and kept Geneva's bats alive while struggling offensively this week. Beck obtained a .400 batting average in the ten games this week, finding 12 hits, seven runs and five RBIs. In addition she has stolen four bases out or her four attempts. Defensively, she has put-out 65 opponenets during her work at first base.

Senior Andrea Hinds (Montrose, PA / Montrose) who is typically known for her presence on the mound or in the outfield made a huge impact in the offensive game batting .476 percent with 10 hits, five runs and 10 hits.

On the mound, right handed junior Sam Johnson (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional) earned a 1.96 ERA after 41.1 innings. She struck out 35 batters while only giving up 36 hits.

Geneva plays Alfred State and Manchester University Monday March 16. Geneva will host Houghton College on Friday March 20 starting at 3:30 p.m.
