Strong Finish Gives Softball a Win

Beaver Falls, PA – After losing the first game of the doubleheader to Grove City, the Geneva softball team came back in big ways to win 2-1 in 8 innings.

After gaining the lead back in the bottom of the 2nd and then having six scoreless innings, Laura Beck (Canfield, OH / Canfield) would drive home the winning run in the bottom of the 8th.

Samantha Johnson (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional) had a great day on the mound for the Tornadoes pitching all 8 innings with 7 strikeouts and allowing just the one run. She and Beck had the only two RBIs on the day for Geneva.

“We got a great pitching performance and gave a gritty effort. It was a game we needed to have life and we live to play another day. Laura Beck did what we expect Laura Beck to do in big spots.” Coach Van Zanic

The Geneva Women’s Softball team will host the Chatham tomorrow Saturday the 18th at 1pm and 3pm.
