Geneva Names Fox Run Golf Course Home

Beaver Falls, PA –In January 2015, Geneva College announced the relaunch of men’s golf and the addition of women’s golf. On Thursday May 21, 2015, the Golden Tornadoes placed the title of ‘home’ for the programs on Fox Run Golf Course, located on River Road in Beaver Falls.

Van Zanic, Geneva’s Athletic Director said, “Fox Run Golf Course is one of the premier public courses in the area, and we are thrilled that we have been able to come to an agreement for our men’s and women’s teams to call Fox Run home when they open competition in 2016.”

Max Mesing, Owner of Fox Run Golf Course, said, “When I was contacted about having Geneva’s home golf course here at Fox Run, it fit because we are all about promoting the game of golf. It’s about growing the game. It is a great thing for us and Geneva, and I think the fact that they are going to have a golf program is great”

Zanic added, “Geneva College and Fox Run will make a tremendous partnership as we look forward to moving our new programs in the right direction. Our student-athletes will have the best amenities possible as they practice and prepare for competition. The location and the availability of a practice green, practice sand traps and a driving range will make Fox Run the perfect venue for Geneva College golf.”

Since Fox Run Golf Course opened in 1984, Mesing has built 40 new tees, created an automatic irrigation system, designed 10 new greens and built a driving range.Jeff S

Men’s basketball head coach Jeff Santarsiero will add coaching men’s and women’s golf to his duties. Santarsiero possesses years of experience in the sport, both as a player and as an instructor.

Santarsiero said, “I have known Max from the golf community for years and I am very excited with our new affiliation with Fox Run Golf Course.”

Geneva’s men and women’s golf programs will compete during both the fall and spring semesters, beginning in the fall semester of 2016 playing at Fox Run Golf Course. The teams will compete in the PAC Golf Championships, which include 36 holes in both the fall and the spring. The accumulation of these 36-hole tournaments equates to the conference’s championship finals.
