The Wednesday, July 1, 2015 episode of WORLD Radio’s The World and Everything in It (TW&E) has been posted to Geneva College’s website at http://www.geneva.edu/faith/the-world. The midweek edition of the show includes top news headlines as well as features covering new hats in the 2016 GOP political ring and the winner of the first ever National Bible Bee televised game show.

Headlines for today include an extended deadline for Iranian nuclear talks, FBI counter-terrorist activity in preparation for Independence Day, Greece defaulting on debt and several others. In business news investors have seen stocks rebound slightly after a steep plunge on Monday.

In the “White House Wednesday” portion of the program WORLD’s chief political correspondent Kent Covington details new power rankings for all of the GOP candidates for the presidential race. After New Jersey Governor Chris Christie announced his candidacy, there are 14 official candidates, with two more expected to announce soon. Covington ranks former Governor George Pataki in last place only just surpassed by Senator Lindsey Graham and Governor Bobby Jindal. Leading the race is former Governor Jeb Bush, followed by Senator Marco Rubio and Governor Scott Walker. Covington’s list takes poll standings into account, as well as financial positioning and structural advantages.

The program ends with a feature about the recently graduated high school senior Hannah Leery who won the first ever National Bible Bee Game Show. A participant in the National Bible Bee since it began six years ago, Hannah spent all of her free time studying to prepare for the competition. She won $100,000, but says, “The Word of God is the biggest takeaway you come away with. You can’t get any better than the Word of God.”
