The Wednesday, July 8, 2015 edition of WORLD Radio’s The World and Everything in It has been posted to Geneva College’s website at http://www.geneva.edu/faith/the-world. The midweek edition of the show includes top news headlines as well as several in-depth stories on pertinent topics to our nation and the world. Today’s top stories: The FBI and Department of Justice indicated in the IRS political targeting scandal, resistance to Defense Secretary Ashton Carter’s outline of the administration’s strategy for fighting the Islamic State and deferred action on childhood arrivals from Senate Homeland Security Committee.

In business news, WORLD reports U.S. stocks falling early yesterday but recovering later in response to possible emergency aid for Greece to yield small gains.

A regular feature of the midweek show, WORLD Radio discusses 2016 presidential hopefuls including Democrat challengers to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. This “White House Wednesday” portion of the program features a look at Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, a self-proclaimed socialist causing awkwardness for the Democratic Party, as well as a discussion of other contenders for the White House.

This week’s program includes the last segment in a three-part series on student debt by WORLD Radio’s Christina Darnell. Darnell interviews 26-year-old Kenneth, a single bachelor who graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Biochemistry and $135,000 of student debt. Kenneth works three jobs to be able to afford a $1,500 bill each month and talks about the hardship of debt and his hope in the Lord to provide for him. Kenneth is just one of 43 million Americans paying off student loans.
