The Wednesday, August 12, 2015 episode of WORLD Radio’s The World and Everything in It has been posted to Geneva College’s website at http://www.geneva.edu/faith/the-world. The midweek edition of the show includes top news headlines as well as several in-depth stories on pertinent topics to our nation and the world. Today’s top stories include feds cracking down on US citizens trying to join ISIS, allegations of a White House led campaign to smear Democrat lawmakers who oppose the Iran nuclear deal, and an agreement between Greece and its Eurozone creditors on a $95 billion bailout deal in exchange for slashes in government spending.

In the “White House Wednesday” portion of the program WORLD’s chief political correspondent Kent Covington reports on the results of Thursday’s Republican presidential debate. The debate was the most watched non-sports event in cable history, with 24 million viewers across the country. Similarly, Covington points out an extreme change in the number of scheduled Democratic national debates, from 20 in 2008 to 6 this election season. This change has seen resistance from democrats who believe the Democratic National Committee is “shooing in” Hillary Clinton for the nomination.

Also included in the program, WORLD Radio’s Christina Darnell presents a feature titled, “All lives matter: Caring for a profoundly disabled adult child.” She reports on the lives of Beverly and Art Lucero who raise their family in eastern Florida. The Luceros have a profoundly disabled daughter named Ariel, who at birth was deprived of oxygen for 30 minutes. She cannot walk or talk, and is confined to a wheelchair or her bed. Now 22 years old, Ariel serves to remind the Luceros that every life matters.
