Geneva Hosts Homecoming and Family Weekend

Homecoming 2015

Homecoming 2015

Geneva College’s Homecoming and Family Weekend provides great entertainment for alumni and students, their families, and members of the local community. This year’s event will be held on Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26.

Director of Alumni Relations Jolynn Frey says, "We’ve added some events to the schedule for families and expanded on affinity reunions so that alumni can connect back to the activities they loved during their time on campus."

Alumni are invited to participate in reunions throughout the day to reconnect with friends and classmates. In addition, special reunions will be held for graduates from the business, education and engineering departments, former theater participants, and graduates who worked at the WGEV radio station.

Friday evening features a lecture on the Holy Land by Bible Department Chair Dr. Jonathan Watt, the Student-Sibling Open Mic Night and a family movie on the lawn (concessions available for purchase).

Saturday afternoon from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. features food vendors and a variety of free family activities, such as a bounce house, face painting, caricatures, crafts, and petting zoo and much more. Also, The Genevans student choir and the New Song ensemble will perform free concerts.

At noon, Geneva’s women’s soccer team will play Point Park University at the Merriman Soccer Complex and the women’s tennis team will play Penn State Altoona at Brady’s Run Park. Admission is free for both events.

Following a pre-game tailgate party for parents and the Homecoming Crowning Ceremony, Geneva’s Golden Tornadoes football team will take on Carnegie Mellon University’s Tartans at Reeves Field at 3 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens. There is no charge for children under 12 and current Geneva students (student ID required).

At 7 p.m., Geneva’s men’s soccer team will play John Carroll University at the Merriman Soccer Complex. Admission is free.

Registration is required for many of the class and special reunion events. Additional information and online registration is available at www.geneva.edu/homecoming.

In addition, both Friday and Saturday evening feature “Broadway Revue: All That Jazz,” with performances by Geneva students and special guest artists. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets are available online at www.geneva.edu/homecoming, at the door, or by calling Kathryn Watt, Development Specialist, at 724-847-6505
