Alliance, OH – Geneva opened its season on the road against Mt. Union September 1. Geneva rallied in the second set for an equalizer at 1-1 but could not finish out the match for the win. Mt. Union defeated Geneva in four; 18-25, 25-23, 17-25, 16-25.

“We had a good game plan going in but did not execute well,” said co-head coach Curt Conser.

The Golden Tornadoes committed 26 attacking errors and 19 serve receive errors against the Raiders.

“We had some good offense going in the second set but we just couldn’t keep it going.”

Senior Rachel Netherland (Aliquippa, PA/Central Valley) led the offense in assists with 27 while earning 10 kills.

Sophomore Erica Hughes (North Jackson, OH/Jackson Milton) was able to put down 17 kills.

Junior Gabrielle Dickson (Brookfield, OH/Kennedy Catholic) and Sophomore Marissa Naples (Cortland, OH/Lakeview) each earned double digit digs; Dickson with 11, Naples with 10.

The Golden Tornadoes will have plenty of games to put an end to the errors this weekend as they travel east to the Gettysburg College tournament where they will face York College and Neumann Friday, Gettysburg and Mt. St. Mary on Saturday.
