Dominant Play Continues for Geneva Volleyball; Winning Streak Hits 13

Steubenville, OH – Now 13-1, Geneva women’s volleyball continued their dominant style of play as they traveled to Franciscan for a tri-match day against both Franciscan and Houghton College winning both matches 3-0. The day’s two wins add to Geneva’s winning streak hitting 13 straight ‘W’s.’

In the first match, Geneva defeated Franciscan 25-11, 25-16, 25-17 for the three set victory.

“We played mistake free volleyball today against Franciscan,” said co-head coach Curt Conser. “We only had five hitting errors and 44 kills on the match.”

In their second match of the day, Geneva again showed their grit against Houghton winning 3-0 scoring 25-14, 25-18, 26-24. Olivia Test (Negley, OH/Heartland Christian) showed big defensive pressure with five blocks at the net and nine kills in the match.

Erica Hughes (North Jackson, OH/Jackson Milton) 11 kills led Geneva’s offense.

Marissa Naples (Cortland, OH/Lakeview) had 22 assists.

“Marissa played very well both games as well as Grace (Hayes).”

Grace Hayes (Westminster, MD/Westminster) contributed six kills over Houghton.

“Grace had five kills in the third set in big ways to help give us the win.”

Geneva is back on the road against Grove City College on Wednesday, September 23 at 7 p.m.
