Women’s Soccer Offensive Surge Ends; Geneva Falls 3-0 to Franciscan

Beaver Falls, PA – Geneva women’s soccer’s offensive surge was put to a stop on Wednesday at home by Franciscan. After scoring 16 goals in its first five games, Geneva was held scoreless by Franciscan in a 3-0 final that dropped Geneva’s overall record to 4-2.

Franciscan scored its opening goal at 30:29 in the first half and, three minutes later, Franciscan converted a corner kick into a goal for the 2-0 halftime score.

Franciscan tallied its third goal in the first 48 seconds of the second half.

“While we played better in the second half, we were not able to convert our chances,” said head coach Linda Sumner.

Geneva outshot Franciscan 12 to six in the second half.

The Golden Tornadoes host Point Park at noon on Saturday, September 26 during Geneva’s homecoming weekend.
