Lacey Sturm to Perform

Lacey Sturm

Lacey SturmLacey Sturm, former lead singer and co-founder of alternative hard rock band Flyleaf, will share her testimony at Geneva College in weekly chapel and perform an acoustic concert for the campus community on Wednesday, October 21, 2015.

Chapel, a weekly time for the entire campus community to gather and praise the Lord and hear His word, is held in Metheny Chapel at 10:10 a.m.

Sturm’s evening performance is an intimate gathering for the Geneva community only, held in Skye Lounge of the Student Center at 7 p.m.

Sturm is a singer-songwriter, author, mother, wife and Christian. Formerly a devout atheist, Sturm gave her life to Jesus after experiencing physical abuse, drug use and suicide attempts. Originally the lead singer for platinum-selling Flyleaf, Sturm has devoted her career to writing songs to glorify the work that God has done in her life.

Sturm’s compelling testimony of her battle with drug use and depression is an amazing example of how God can use the lowest parts of the human experience to draw people to Him.  Her performance at Geneva provides an opportunity to witness the restored and relatable brokenness that has transformed the lives of thousands fans worldwide.

Her former band, Flyleaf, debuted in 2002 and has charted on mainstream rock, Christian pop and Christian metal genres. The band’s style has been identified in a variety of ways from alternative metal to post-grunge. Because of the many religious references in Flyleaf's music, the band is also considered to be a Christian rock and Christian metal band. Members say they are Christians who play in a rock band, and their faith is heard within their music.
