BETHANY, WV - Geneva’s offense came alive in the last three and a half minutes of the first half as sophomore quarterback Aaron Channing (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) connected with fellow sophomore Nick Cook (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) with a pair of touchdown passes.

The scoring passes, covering eight and 50 yards cut Bethany’s lead to 21-13 at halftime but those would be the last points the Golden Tornadoes offense scored. Geneva’s other two points came after Bethany’s last touchdown of the game when the extra point was blocked and Jared Hogue (Freedom, PA/Freedom) returned the kick for a defensive PAT.

After accumulating just 124 yards in total offense last week, Geneva’s offense got back on track as the Golden Tornadoes gained 425 yards in the loss. Channing passed for 366 yards, just two short of his career high, while Cook caught 12 passes for 144 yards and the two scores – all career highs.

Bethany, though, was able to accumulate 415 yards and was led by two touchdowns each from Eric Blinn and Jalen Holmes. The Bison crushed any hopes for a Geneva comeback by scoring on its first two possessions of the second half.

Sophomore Nate Cannon (Palm Beach Gardens, FL/Kings Academy) led the defensive effort with eight tackles.

Geneva, now 2-5 and 1-4 in the PAC, continues its season next Saturday, hosting Washington & Jefferson at 7 p.m.
