The pair of losses lowers Geneva’s overall record to 22-4, 12-2 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).

Marissa Naples (Cortland, OH/Lakeview) and Erica Hughes (North Jackson, OH/Jackson Milton) each earned eight kills against Thomas More.

“Marissa Naples played really well offensively,” said Geneva co-coach Curt Conser.

Rachel Netherland (Aliquippa, PA/Central Valley) led the team in assists with 19 followed by Naples with 13.

Gabrielle Dickson (Brookfield, OH/Kennedy Catholic) returned from an injury with a team high 13 digs.

“Dickson was back in the lineup today and she played well,” Conser said.

The Golden Tornadoes racked up seven team blocks in the four sets.In game two against DePauw, Geneva totaled 35 kills in four sets with Naples and Hughes each getting eight kills again to lead the offense.

Netherland tallied 20 more assists, Dickson collected 16 more digs while the team earned nine blocks.

“It’s fun to talk about blocks, kills and assists but games are won and lost with ball control and today we were not the strong ball-control team,” said Conser.

Friday, October 23 the Golden Tornadoes head back on the road to compete in the Juniata Tournament. There, Geneva will face Bridgewater, nationally ranked Carnegie Mellon University and top ranked NCAA Division III Juniata.
