The Genevans Present "Gifts of Grace"

First Presbyterian Church of Beaver Falls

First Presbyterian Church of Beaver Falls

The Genevans, the student choir of Geneva College, will present “Gifts of Grace” on Friday, December 4 and Saturday, December 5 at the First Presbyterian Church of Beaver Falls, located at 1103 8th Avenue.

Both concerts begin at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:15 p.m. and an organ prelude at 6:30 p.m. The concerts are free and open to the public.

The Genevans’ performances feature two world premieres: “A Star There Shines,” a choral anthem by Geneva Bible professor Dr. Byron Curtis, and a new arrangement of “The First Noel” by junior communication major Michael Kearney of Mount Sinai, NY.

Maintaining a beloved tradition, the program will include several opportunities for the audience to sing along to well-known carols, including the beloved hymn “Joy to the World!” at the conclusion of the concert.

Geneva College vocal groups The Grace Notes, a women’s ensemble, and the Eight Bells, a double barbershop quartet, will also perform.

Senior music education major Rose Lundy of Vienna, VA, will perform the offertory. Pianist and organist Michael Kearney will present the 30-minute organ prelude.

Dr. David Kenneth Smith, conductor of The Genevans, comments, “This season we’re celebrating the gifts that God gives us. From sun and rain, love and joy, to God’s giving His Son at Christmas to be our Savior—all are Gifts of Grace.”

Founded in 1938, the mission of The Genevans expresses Geneva’s belief that music, as one of God’s finest gifts, meets a deep, universal need in people. The choir’s broad repertoire reflects the belief that all of life is lived in God’s presence.
