Responsible BeliefGeneva College Professor of Philosophy Dr. Robert Frazier, has just published Responsible Belief: Limitations, Liabilities, and Melioration, which is available for purchase through Wipf and Stock Publishers. To commemorate the accomplishment, a book launch blessing and celebration will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 4 p.m.

The event will include tea and light refreshments, and will take place on campus in Old Main 022. Responsible Belief will be available to purchase for $12, which is 50 percent off of the retail price.

According to the publisher, Responsible Belief tackles the problem of fixing the tenacity of believers in forming, holding, and modifying beliefs. The book evidences Frazier’s penetrating thought, over his years as a philosopher, about a matter dear to his heart: how to come to responsibly true belief, and to help others do so as well.

"This scholarly work reflects the seasoning of a life formed in and devoted to the very things it commends,” said Dr. Esther Meek, Professor of Philosophy and one of Frazier’s colleagues.  “Arguing that modern epistemology, with its narrow focus on justification, is ill-equipped to mature people in responsible believing, Frazier taps the ancient greats to propose a wider account: humans' natural inclination to truth, hampered by our prideful self-deception, may be wooed by the world's intimations of beauty, and restored through intellectual love and humility, and a spirituality of inquiry."

Frazier has been characterized by students and peers as a professor who cares academically and pastorally for his family, students, colleagues and parishioners. He has presented select academic pieces in several churches and institutions across the nation, and is currently working on a manuscript concerning the political philosophy of St. Augustine that he hopes will become a future book.
