Beaver Falls, PA – Geneva opened its 2015-2016 home season with a 87-65 loss to Carnegie Mellon University. The Golden Tornadoes came out cold in their first game at home and never caught up.

Junior Chaese Vaudrin (Uniontown, OH/Lake) had 25 points and sophomore Jimmy Leichliter (Connellsville, PA/Connellsville) had 23 but it wasn’t enough to offset 37 points and 15 rebounds by Jack Serbin of CMU.

“We only made one of our first 29 shots but battled back to be down by just 12 at halftime,” said Geneva coach Jeff Santarsiero. “But they came out with a run in the second half and the closest we got was 14.

“They were so much bigger than us, but we battled and I liked that from our kids.”

Geneva (0-2) continues its home season Friday night at 7:30 against Eastern University in the Coaches vs. Cancer Tip-Off Tournament.
