Quest TripsGeneva College Spring Break Quest Trips provide students the opportunity to travel to new cities, serve with different organizations and fellowship with current students, all while engaging communities and serving God’s kingdom. The 2016 Quest Trips will take place from March 4-14. Locations include Aliquippa, New Orleans, Memphis, Miami and Washington D.C.

"Each trip is a little bit different, but the focus of all the trips is to provide an opportunity for students to serve, listen and learn from the places they are visiting," said Missy Nyeholt, Coordinator of Service Learning.

In Aliquippa, students meet with pastors, politicians, community advocates, and long-time residents to discuss problems in the city and the church’s place in providing hope and love for members of the community. Participants serve alongside the Uncommon Grounds Café doing projects such as gardening, clean up, and many other activities.

In New Orleans, the residents of the Hollygrove neighborhood speak about their desire and work to revitalize their community. By visiting multiple areas of the city, students learn about the culture in New Orleans. And through a partnership with Trinity Christian Community, service opportunities range from after- school programs to lawn care.

Education reform, poverty, and race are all prominent issues in Memphis. This trip focuses on serving alongside churches and organizations to meet different needs, as well experiencing intentional neighboring in the community.

The trip to Miami provides a unique experience to hear the stories of survivors of U.S. sex trafficking. Staff members of the Life of Freedom Center conduct seminars and organize service opportunities to foster understanding of the issue and engage in effective prevention and education strategies.

Immigration is the focus of the Washington D.C. trip. Participants learn from professionals and individuals with experience about immigration and its impact on people’s lives. They serve alongside a variety of ministries that work directly with immigrant and refugee populations.
