Chaese Vaudrin’s 22 points not enough to overcome NCAA Division I YSU

Vaudrin

Youngstown, OH – Chaese Vaudrin (Uniontown, OH/Lake) racked up 22 points, nine rebounds at Youngstown State University Tuesday night but it wasn’t enough as Geneva played the team of former Golden Tornadoes head coach Jerry Slocum. Geneva is now 0-8 overall, remaining 0-3 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.

The Golden Tornadoes did not find the new surrounding friendly, missing their first 11 field-goal attempts and fell behind early. By the 12:26 mark, Geneva had cut the deficit to 20-8 score, but the gap was too big.

Geneva finished the game shooting a 40.7 percent from the field, but just 12.5 percent from the beyond the arc.

Senior Ethan Adamczyk (Uniontown, OH/ Lake/Lake Erie) chipped in nine points and five rebounds, sophomore Jimmy Leichliter (Connellsville, PA/ Connellsville) gathered seven points, four rebounds, and freshman Matt Dragan (Latrobe, PA/Greater Latrobe) also contributed five rebounds.

“We were competitive at times but we did the things we have been doing all year,” said head coach Jeff Santarsiero. “We are getting better. I saw us do some great things tonight.”

“Chaese was outstanding.”

Geneva is off now until Tuesday, December 29, when the Golden Tornadoes will play Cal-Lutheran (CA) in the Thrivent Financial Tournament. The game will be begin at 6 p.m., 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).
