Bethany, WV – Geneva’s Heidi Mann (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy) scored 27, shooting 64.2 % from the field, to lead the Golden Tornadoes to a 75-69 win at Bethany Saturday night. The win raises Geneva to a 5-3 overall record, still perfect in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference, 3-0.
“Heidi carried us,” said head coach Lori Wynn. “Miranda came up big in the third quarter and Heidi carried us in the fourth. We had to fight for it.”
Tied 43-43 with 3:59 left in the third, Miranda Heaney (New Castle, PA/Union) came out from a timeout with a three-pointer. Geneva then forced a Bison turnover and Heaney was fouled attempting another three. Heaney made all three from the stripe for the 49-43 lead.
“Rachel Moore (Vandergrift, PA/Apollo Ridge) and Noelle Henry (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) came off the bench and played huge,” added Wynn.
The Golden Tornadoes will resume play after celebrating Christmas. They are on the road against Spring Arbor at Bluffton’s Tournament on Monday December 28 at 5 p.m.
