Callie Ford’s Big Day Hands Geneva 71-61 Win Over Ohio State Lima

Ford

Bluffton, Ohio  - Freshman Callie Ford (New Middletown, OH/Springfield Local) earned a double double over Ohio State Lima in day two at the 3rd McDonald’s of Bluffton Holiday Tournament. Ford raised her career record to 18 points, 12 rebounds.

The 71-61 win raises Geneva’s overall record to 6-4 before returning the Presidents’ Athletic Conference play on Saturday, January 2 hosting Grove City.

Joining Ford with double-digit points and a career high was freshman, Jodie Carlson (Warsaw, IN/Warsaw), who finished with 17 points, seven rebounds.

The Golden Tornadoes took an early lead and built upon it for a comfortable 42-29 halftime score. Unfortunately, Ohio State Lima didn’t allow the Geneva to stay at ease outscoring Geneva 23-13 in the third quarter.

Entering the last 10 minutes ahead by a slim 53-52, Geneva’s strong finish overcame any doubts and sealed the win.

"We started strong then got sluggish in the third," said head coach Lori Wynn. "The freshman stepped up, both having career days. We hit big shots when we needed to and got some stops."

Senior Heidi Mann (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy) contributed 11 rebounds in the successful effort.

Saturday, January 2 at 5:30 p.m. on home court against Grove City.
