Four Men’s Track Records Broken at Spire

Geneva Pole Vaulting

Spire, OH – It was a historic meet for the Geneva men’s track and field team as it competed in the Spire Midwest Indoor Track & Field Open on Saturday, January 30. The men would combine to break four school records – three in track and one in field events.

“We had a great meet at Spire,” said head coach Phil Thompson. “There was some great competition and they stepped up to the challenge. Aaron had another big day qualifying for two more events at the ECAC meet.”

Sophomore Aaron Tedys (Beaver Falls, PA / Riverside) continues to perform at record-breaking levels, breaking the school record in the 200 meter finishing with a finals time of 22.34 seconds. He also broke the school record in the 400 meters (49.64). Each of Tedys’ record breaking finishes were enough to qualify him for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) post-season meet.

Sophomore Clayton Smith (Williamsport, MD / Williamsport), freshmen Andrew Domenic (Pittsburgh, PA / Avonworth), freshmen Jacob Ames (Erie, PA / PA Cyber), and freshmen Levi Ebersole (Mifflinburg, PA / Mifflinburg) compose Geneva’s 4x800 relay team, which also broke the Geneva record with a time of 8:27.89.

In the field, junior Jake LaGorga (North Huntington, PA / Norwin) wrapped up -Geneva’s recording breaking day with a pole vault of 12-feet-6.5 inches, resetting Geneva’s indoor pole vault record.

“It was great to see a lot of school records go down,” said Thompson.

The Geneva men’s track and field will continue competition at the Crimson and Gold Invitational meet on Friday, February 5 at Oberlin (OH).
