Heartbreak in Metheny; Grove City trumps Geneva Women 67-63

Geneva

Beaver Falls, PA – Grove City left Geneva with nine seconds to tie the game at 65 but the Golden Tornadoes were unable to take the visiting Wolverines into overtime. Instead, the Wolverines blocked a shot, were fouled on the rebound and converted, sealing the win 67-63 at the charity stripe. The heartbreaking loss lowers Geneva’s overall record to 6-5, 3-1 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).

“We just didn’t finish,” said head coach Lori Wynn.

“We did some great things on both sides of the ball, especially in the third quarter on defense.”

Senior Heidi Mann (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy) led Geneva’s efforts with 18 points and gathered nine rebounds. Freshman Noelle Henry (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) contributed 11 points.

Wednesday, January 6 at 6 p.m. Geneva faces Washington & Jefferson on the road.
