Nicole Hyland’s Season-High 20 Points Not Enough at Chatham

Hyland

Pittsburgh, PA – Nicole Hyland’s (Trafford, PA/Penn Trafford) season-high 20 points wasn’t enough for the Golden Tornadoes to seal a win on the road at Chatham Saturday night. The 83-73 loss lowers Geneva’s overall record to 6-7, 3-3 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).

Hyland finished with eight field goals, shooting 73 percent and chipped in four free throws. Jodie Carlson (Warsaw, IN/Warsaw) added 13 points while Lydia Songer (Wexford PA/Pine Richland) and Callie Ford (New Middletown, OH/Springfield Local) earned 11 points each.

Heidi Mann (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy) led Geneva’s game off the glass with eight rebounds.

“Chatham plays really well at home,” said head coach Lori Wynn. “They outplayed us.”

Chatham opened the game with a 26-19 lead after the ten minutes. Geneva would be able to slow down Chatham and equalize play in the second with each team scoring 19 for a halftime score of 42-35. Geneva, though, was unable to overcome the early Chatham run in the second half.

Wednesday, January 13 Geneva will travel to nationally ranked Thomas More in its fourth consecutive game on the road. The Golden Tornadoes return to home court on Saturday, January 16 to host all-time rival Westminster at 5:30 p.m.
