Men’s Track & Field Has Record Breaking Weekend

Clay Smith

Alliance, OH – Geneva men’s track and field completed a bi-meet weekend competing in Friday’s Crimson and Gold Invitational meet at Oberlin and Saturday and the Jim Wuske Invitational at Mount Union. Three Golden Tornadoes led the way, including yet another school record shattered.

“This has been a great week for us,” said head coach Phil Thompson. “We continue to perform at a high level.”

That high level started with freshmen mid-distance runner Josh Duffie (Canton, OH / Glenoak) who placed first in the 5K with a time of 16:03.35.

Sophomore Aaron Tedys (Beaver Falls, PA / Riverside) finished sixth in the 60 meter dash with the time 7.10 seconds.

Finally, sophomore Clay Smith (Williamsport, MD / Williamsport) came in second in the 1000 meter run with 2:39.92, breaking an 11-year-old school record by almost two seconds.

“I can't wait to see what this team will accomplish,” said Thompson.

The Golden Tornadoes will compete again on Saturday, February 13 in the Tiffin Dragon Invite at Tiffin University.
