Geneva women fall in first PAC appearance

Pittsburgh, PA – The Geneva women’s basketball team lost to the Chatham Cougars 82-67 on the road on Monday, February 22 in the President’s Athletic Conference (PAC) opening playoff game. The Golden Tornadoes finished their season 9-17 overall, 6-12 in the PAC. By qualifying for the PAC playoff tournament, the team had their best overall program finish since joining the NCAA Division III PAC.

While the lead was back and forth for most of the first half, Geneva was unable to regain the lead in the second half. Chatham shot 56.9% from the field in the victory, 37.9% from beyond the arc. Geneva only was able to shoot 42.1% from the field and 25% from beyond the arc.

Seniors Heidi Mann (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy) and Nicole Hyland (Trafford, PA/Penn Trafford) finished their Geneva careers at Chatham. Hyland finished the game with nine points and four rebounds. Mann finished the game as an impact player scoring 25 points and having 8 rebounds.

“I’m really proud of our team,” said head coach Lori Wynn. “We played hard and fought for it. We missed some key shots and they hit some key shots.”

“We’ve accomplished a lot this year. And have a lot to be proud of!”
