Geneva to Celebrate Tuition Freedom Day

Picture of Geneva to Celebrate Tuition Freedom Day

On Thursday, April 7, Geneva College will recognize Tuition Freedom Day—a day that marks the point in the academic year when tuition stops paying for students’ education. After this point is reached, gifts to the college from valued donors make a Geneva education possible.

Tables will be set up in the Brig, located in the Student Center, and outside of Alexander Dining Hall, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. for students to write thank-you notes to donors. Participating students can also grab some donut holes to remind them of the missing piece in their tuition that is generously covered by donors.

The purpose of Tuition Freedom Day is to create awareness among the student body of the impact that fundraising and philanthropy has on Geneva College. Without outside funding, tuition for most students would dramatically increase. The day is intended to remind students about the importance of giving back to the college and how they directly benefit from the generosity of donors.

Nearly 100% of Geneva College students receive some form of financial assistance. In 2015, over $2.2 million was given to Geneva College from alumni and friends.

Geneva College invites students to step forward and leap ahead with an academically excellent, Christ-centered and affordable education. Offering nearly 40 undergraduate majors, Adult Degree Programs with fully online and campus-based options, and high-demand advanced graduate degrees, Geneva's programs are recognized for their high quality. U.S. News & World Report ranks Geneva as a Top 10 Best Value with one of the Top 100 engineering programs in the nation. Adhering to the inerrancy of Scripture, a Geneva education is grounded in God’s word as well as in a core curriculum designed to prepare students vocationally to think, write and communicate well in today’s world.
