Softball’s Extra Inning Loss Fuels Second Game Fury

Fort Myers, FL – Geneva softball squeezed in two games Monday morning before catching the plane back to Beaver Falls, PA. Game one resulting in a 10-9 extra inning disappointment to Curry College. Geneva rallied in game two against Alfred State College, winning 11-8. Geneva returns home with a 6-4 overall record.

Laura Beck (Canfield, OH/Canfield) led Geneva’s offense in game one, going two for three, drawing a walk, and scoring three times.

Geneva led Curry 8-3 in the sixth but gave up five runs in the seventh. Curry shut the door for the Golden Tornadoes offense in the bottom of the seventh forcing the extra inning game with the score tied at 8-8.

Curry scored twice in their half of the inning and Geneva could only muster one run in the bottom of the frame.

Geneva then faced Alfred State College in its last competition in Florida and the Golden Tornadoes made their finale memorable, opening the game with seven runs in the top of first. 

Taylor Yarletts (New Castle, PA/Mohawk) had two hits in her three at bats and drew a walk.

Saturday, March 19 Geneva travels to Franciscan University in its first game north,  starting at 1 p.m.
