Geneva College Celebrates Creation Care Week

Creation Care Club

The week of April 18-22 marks the observance of Creation Care week. This is a time for the campus community to learn about being better stewards of creation sponsored by the Creation Care Club. Events feature two guest speakers and two marquee events.

Steve Montgomery and Doug Campbell will speak about farming and creation care on Wednesday, April 20 at 7 p.m. in Northwood 013. Montgomery is a representative of Lamppost Farms and will provide a Christian perspective on sustainable farming. Campbell will talk about his efforts at Campbell Laboratory to use his New Brighton property sustainably and connect with the local community to encourage creation care.

The Community Earth Day Event will be held on Friday, April 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Campbell Lab, located at 1900 Third Ave, New Brighton. The event includes local school students picking up trash and learning about recycling.

Geneva students are needed to greet and interact with the participants, as well as to help collect materials. If interested, contact Professor Marjory Tobias at mctobias@geneva.edu for more information.

Game Night in the Brig will also be held on Friday, April 22. This event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. and features an opportunity to enjoy fun and fellowship with the Creation Care Club. Refreshments will be provided.

The mission of the Creation Care Club is to promote stewardship of the creation on Geneva's campus and in the surrounding community.  The club aims to increase awareness about the responsibility that Christians have to care for the Lord's creation, to educate about how people can be good stewards, and to encourage activities and habits that protect and restore creation.
