Geneva to host National Day of Prayer breakfast

National Day of PrayerGeneva College′s National Day of Prayer breakfast will take place on Thursday, May 5 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in Alexander Hall. This year′s theme is “Wake Up America,” based on Isaiah 58:1: “Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet. Declare to my people their rebellion and to the descendants of Jacob their sins.”

U.S. Representative Keith Rothfus will speak. Rothfus is the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 12th congressional district. He serves on the Financial Services Committee, House Energy Action Team and the Republican Policy Committee’s Subcommittee on Jobs and Economic Development. Prior to being elected to Congress, Rothfus worked as a lawyer.

The National Day of Prayer, held on the first Thursday of every May, has been acknowledged by Congress as an annual event since it was signed into law by President Harry S. Truman in 1952. It strives to emphasize the nation′s love and dependence on God.

According to the official website, “The mission of the National Day of Prayer Task Force is to mobilize prayer in America and to encourage personal repentance and righteousness in the culture.

Geneva′s prayer breakfast is free and open to students, faculty, staff and the public.

Free-will offerings will be taken to benefit Pine Valley Bible Camp and the Tiger Pause Ministry of Beaver Falls.
