Grove City, PA – The Geneva College baseball team traveled to Grove City on Monday afternoon, April 25 to play Grove City College. Grove City held the lead for most of the game until Geneva was able to come from behind and snag the 9-8 victory – its fifth in a row - in the top of the ninth as a three run home run by Andy Santana (San Pedro de Marcoris, DR/Desert Christian) proved to be the game winner. The win brings the Golden Tornadoes to 4-16 in the President’s Athletic Conference (PAC), 13-21 overall.

Offense was in abundance on Monday, as the teams combined for 17 runs and 23 hits, including seven extra base hits. Both bullpens were busy with six pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to close the win.

Grove City jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first and would hold the lead for the majority of the game. Grove City added scored two runs in the eighth. With Geneva trailing by two, Santana homered, scoring JC Ackerman (Lewis Center, OH/Worthington Christian) and Tyler Pagaduan (Voorhess, NJ/Eastern Regional) in the top of the ninth inning.

Mark Overmeir (Crofton, MD/Mount St. Joseph) would play a big part in the game offensively as well as he would have two RBIs on a single and a double.

Branden Schlick (Harmony, PA/Seneca Valley) got the win in relief, pitching two innings and allowing one run.

With their win streak going strong, the Golden Tornadoes will prepare for the visiting Thiel College Tomcats on Wednesday, April 27 at 4:30 p.m. for a single nine inning game at home.
