Washington, PA - After two tough away games, Geneva baseball drops double-header games to Washington and Jefferson, 9-5 in the first and 11-1 in the second. The losses takes Geneva to 6-11 overall and 1-6 in the President’s Athletic Conference.

Despite losing the first game, Geneva outhit its opponents, 15 hits to the President’s 9 hits. Joey Luciana (Oakmont, PA/St. Joseph) had three hits – two for extra bases - for Geneva. He singled in the first inning, doubled in the fifth inning, and tripled in the seventh inning.

Zach Ackerman (Lewis Center, OH/Worthington Christian) took the loss, allowing six runs in 5 2/3 innings, walking three and striking out five in the first game.

W&J grabbed the early lead, 2-0, but Geneva answered with two runs of its own in the first. Geneva scored on a bases loaded walk and an RBI single by Richie Rowe (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk). However, Washington & Jefferson would never surrender the lead after the third inning, scoring on a groundout.

Game 2 was not as exciting for the GTs as they struggled to find some hitting momentum.

Jeff Parker (Green Brook, NJ/Timothy Christian) was charged with the loss. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked five and struck out six.

The sixth inning saw Geneva score its only run on the day on a groundout by JC Ackerman (Lewis Center, OH/Worthington Christian).

Geneva baseball will be on the diamond again tomorrow, Saturday April 2 as they play Washington and Jefferson again for their single nine-inning game of the season.
