Thomas More Takes Down Geneva Baseball, 17-4

Crestview, KY – A trip to Kentucky wasn’t a pleasure trip for the Geneva baseball team as the Golden Tornadoes lost 17-4 to conference rival Thomas More in a single nine-inning game. The loss lowers Geneva’s President’s Athletic Conference (PAC) record to 2-11, being 7-16 overall.

It looked promising at first when senior Aaron Witman (Greencastle, PA/Shalom Christian Academy) hit a two-run double to give Geneva the early lead and extended the lead when Witman had an RBI single in his next at bat. Teammate Mark Overmeir (Crofton, MD/Mount St. Joseph) also drove home a run to extend the lead to 4-0. That, however, was the high point for the Golden Tornadoes as the Saints scored four in the bottom of the third to tie the game and scored in every inning after.

The Saint’s out hit the GTs 20-10 and only committed one error over the course of the game. Geneva, though, would commit eight errors. Junior Jeff Parker (Green Brook, NJ/Timothy Christian) took the loss, walking two and allowing eight hits and eight runs in three innings.

Geneva will need to bounce back quickly as they return home to face off against Waynesburg Wednesday, April 13 at 4:30 p.m. for their single nine inning game.
