Washington & Jefferson Betters Geneva Men’s Tennis, 9-0

Beaver Falls, PA – The Geneva men’s tennis team competed in its last regular season tennis match today - a home tennis match against Washington and Jefferson College. While the team fought hard to end the season on a win, the Presidents proved too strong for the Golden Tornadoes as they were upended 9-0 for a loss. The loss ends Geneva’s regular season – its first in NCAA -at 2-9 overall, 2-7 in the President’s Athletic Conference (PAC).

“We would have liked to end the season on more of a high note, but Washington and Jefferson is another tough team,” remarked head coach Mandee Craft on the loss. “We had a few looks but couldn’t get it done.”

One of those hard looks came from Caleb Hoal (Montrose, PA/ Montrose) as he and his partner Ethan Stahl (Beaver Falls, PA/ BCCS) extended their doubles match to 8-3. In his singles match, Hoal took his opponent to the end but was unable to secure the victory as he lost 5-7 in both sets.

“It is hard to believe that our inaugural season is just about in the books. Now we wait and get prepared for PACs,” said Craft.

The PAC Championship tournament will take place on April 29 in Erie, PA where the Golden Tornadoes will compete in the their first championship meet since their return to varsity sports at Geneva College.
