Softball Sweeps Grove City 6-4, 8-0

Grove City, PA – Geneva softball swept the Grove City Wolverines Saturday afternoon raising its overall record to 13-13, 3-7 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference. Grove City’s record lowered to 3-12, 0-6 in the conference. 

Ashley Grow’s (Beaver, OH / Waverly) two-run homer in the sixth provided Geneva its’ game winning run. Geneva would add a run to in the seventh for the 6-4 win.

Clara Sevy (Sykesville, MD / Chapelgate Christian) and Dayna Hicks (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) helped the offensive efforts each with doubles and a RBI. Lucia Fee (Wampum, PA / Mohawk) also chipped in a RBI.

Emily Keslar (Mt. Pleasant, PA / Connellsville) earned the win with nine hits, a walk, four runs and two strikeouts. 

Geneva’s defense shut down the host’s offense in game two with Keslar on the mound. Keslar surrendered only three hits, walked none and struck out one.

Geneva scored in every inning peaking with a three-run fifth-inning to end the game early. Hayley Sainato (New Castle, PA / Mohawk) racked up two hits and two runs. Hicks earned two hits during her three at bats earning a RBI and a run. 

Tuesday, April 19 the Golden Tornadoes return to the road at Saint Vincent (3:30 & 5:30 p.m.).
