Offensive Explosion Lifts Softball to 10-1, 10-2 sweep over Chatham

Pittsburgh, PA – An eight-hit, eight-run sixth inning ended the first game early at 10-1 early in Geneva’s favor and the nightcap also ended early with a 10-2 win over Chatham after scoring in the first, third, fourth, fifth and sixth. The sweep raises Geneva’s overall record to 16-18, 5-11 in the Presidents Athletic Conference.

Geneva outplayed Chatham with 13 hits and nine RBIs in the opening game. Lucia Fee (Wampum, PA / Mohawk) and Clara Sevy (Sykesville, MD / Chapelgate Christian) teamed up for eight hits and four RBIs.

Emily Keslar (Mt. Pleasant, PA / Connellsville) played a big part in the victory. She struck out five batters, allowing one run, five hits and no walks.

Geneva stayed hot in game two racking up 16 hits, 10 RBIs including eight doubles and a triple by Dayna Hicks (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk).

Keslar earned her 15th win of the season with three strikeouts, no walks, one hit by pitch, nine hits and two runs. She now has a 15-16 record in her freshman year.

Saturday, April 30 Geneva will celebrate its two seniors - Dayna Hicks and Laura Beck (Canfield, OH / Canfield) while hosting Thiel at 1 & 3 p.m.
