Geneva Singing Group Tours the U.S.A.

Embarking in July and returning in August, the New Song group of Geneva College will be traveling and ministering across the United States.  Over the course of the trip, the group has 24 scheduled performances in states ranging from Pennsylvania to Ohio, Kansas, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Iowa, Indiana, and Wisconsin.  Through music and drama, New Song will convey the timeless words of the gospel in a contemporary and dynamic way.

Chosen in January, nine students make a yearlong commitment to serve the Lord.  They are selected not only for their God-given abilities in music and drama but also for their willingness to boldly articulate and convey their faith.

The nine students using their talents to serve the Lord this summer are:

  • Garrett Stevens (Senior; Music Education and Spanish major; Three Springs, PA)
  • Savanna Thompson (Junior; Communication major; State College, PA)
  • Adam Speers (Junior; General Music major; Hopewell, PA)
  • Matthew Montgomery (Senior; Music Education major; New Castle, PA)
  • Annie McCune (Senior; Music Education major; Syracuse, NY)
  • Alyssa Stevens (Senior; Music Business major, Three Springs, PA)
  • Christopher McCown (Junior; Music and Psychology major; Hermitage, PA)
  • Laura Anderson (Junior; Communication Disorders major; State College, PA)
  • Kathryn McDonald (Senior; Communication Disorders major; Cinnaminson, NJ)

Over the course of 40 years, New Song has traveled widely across the United States and Canada and has traveled twice to mainland China.  With the Gospel on their lips, the group has touched the lives of hundreds of people sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

Director of New Song Lindsay Shaffer states, “First and foremost, the students sing for the glory of God, proclaiming His goodness to people across the country.  Helping to lift up and encourage local congregations, they are witnesses of the gospel to those without knowledge of Christ’s saving grace.”  Through music, New Song reaches faithful Christians and unbelievers alike, revealing the beauty and importance of singing the Psalms as well as other hymns of faith.
