Top Counseling Schools Ranks Geneva College Eighth in State, First among Evangelical Christian Schools

BEAVER FALLS, PA, July 6, 2016 - Top Counseling Schools named Geneva College to their list of top value counseling master’s degrees in Pennsylvania. Geneva scored an eighth place ranking, first among evangelical Christian schools.

To make the list, the counseling programs first required accreditation by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP).  Eligible counseling programs were then graded on program completion rate, job placement rate, licensing exam pass rate, accreditation length, research productivity, and tuition & fees.

Geneva College provides numerous counseling master’s degrees including: School Counseling; Mental Health Counseling; and Marital, Couple, and Family Counseling/Therapy.  These master’s degrees require 600 internship hours, a 10-hour group training seminar to develop facilitation skills, and a rigorous theoretical coursework in human development psychology and sociology.  With a 99% National Counselor Examination (NCE) pass rate, Geneva’s program is challenging but fulfilling.

John Gallo, Dean of Graduate, Adult, and Online Programs, stated, “Geneva College has made a true commitment to affordability and excellence in both our undergraduate and graduate programs.  It is exciting to see that this commitment to our students is being recognized by others.  A counseling student can now come to Geneva and received a distinctively Christian education from a CACREP-accredited graduate counseling program that is now also recognized for being of tremendous value in Pennsylvania.”

As a Christian institution grounded in the Scriptures, Geneva offers a faith-based approach to Christian counseling.  Helping students follow in the path of Christ, our Wonderful Counselor, this approach bolsters students to cultivate the “wonderful counselor” within them.

Through Geneva’s Master’s in Counseling Program, individuals gain valuable skills for various environments and situations.  Students are equipped to help change lives and make an immeasurable impact for the Kingdom.
